Has Technology Gone Too Far? Disturbing Fake Mouth Let You 'Kiss' Partner From Long Distances

[ad_1]

Throughout the years, countless forms of technology have been developed to make it easier for people to connect and communicate with each other from long distances. First, it was the telegram, then the telephone, then social media, but now there’s a new invention that’s way more disturbing: a fake mouth designed to let you kiss your long-distance partner.

How Does It Work? Users connect the silicon lip device to their smartphones and pair them with their partner’s device. The device will “record” how the user interacts with the silicon lips and transmit that information to their partner’s device. So if you kiss the rubber lips very aggressively, your partner can feel that on their lip device.

The device not only recreates the lip movements, but the sounds as well.

Jiang Zhongli, an inventor at the Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology in Eastern China developed the device after struggling with a long-distance relationship himself, according to the Daily Mail. He said the purpose of the device is to allow long-distance partners to connect in a more intimate way than simply talking on the phone or video chatting.

While generating some buzz around social media, only about 100 devices a month are being sold, according Zhongli. One set of fake lips runs about $38, or you can get a pair for $80.

According to the Daily Mail report, customer feedback has been mixed. Some have been impressed with the technology, while others wish it was even more intimate.

‘It’s a wonderful invention, but where’s the tongue?’ one user posted on Weibo, a Chinese social networking app.

These fake lips are most likely a gimmick invention, but could be a sign of what’s to come as the next generation of technology aims to enhance long-distance communication between romantic partners.
